Invisalign clear aligners are an extremely popular teeth-straightening choice among teenagers for a variety of reasons. Today, we’ll explore exactly why this orthodontic option is such a great options for teens.
Right off the bat, let’s look at the most obvious reason that so many teens prefer Invisalign to traditional metal braces: the fact that they’re clear.
Invisalign aligners are made of a clear, smooth plastic, which makes them virtually undetectable when worn. For teenagers especially (though for adults, too), there are obvious social benefits to this.
Because these clear aligners are less noticeable, many people won’t ever really notice that your teen is undergoing orthodontic treatment. This can result is less teasing from peers.
Besides that, even if your teen never experiences teasing because of his or her braces, teenagers can often be quite self-conscious about theirappearances, and would prefer to single themselves as little as possible; they’d rather fit in and be ‘normal’. This may result in their feeling insecure about wearing regular braces. Invisalign can help them avoid these feelings.
Invisalign aligners are removable.
The fact that Invisalign aligners are removable means that you teen can continue to brush and floss as normal.
Many teens can become impatient about the extensive process of cleaning teeth with metal braces, and often, during their busy days, they can’t always take as much time as is necessary to carefully clean their teeth and braces after each meal or snack.
Invisalign completely eliminates this problem. They can simply be removed during a meal, and then popped back in (after a brushing) afterwards!
Another plus is that there’s no need to worry about food getting stuck in them to cause embarrassment later. It’s hard to avoid getting food stuck in traditional braces, but again, Invisalign eliminates this problem.
Invisalign also means fewer appointments at the orthodontist’s office!
While we’re always happy to see our patients, we also know that most of them have busy daily schedules that makes it difficult to find time to visit us for adjustment appointments. Kids and teenagers usually have to miss school for these appointments, which is of course never a good thing!
Because Invisalign consists of a series of aligners that can be switched out every other week or so at home as you progress through treatment, your teen will need to visit our office less frequently. That means less missed school, and one less thing to fit into those busy schedules.
